Most of this is simply information to let you know how a survey works. Wireless devices do, however, require some attention. If you have any questions after reading the info below please give us a call. 541-684-0421 WIRELESS DEVICES: Please turn off all wireless devices immediately prior to survey time as this is a necessity for taking accurate readings and preventing extraneous survey time; these devices will be tested individually. We can provide a temporary land line phone if you don’t have one and need to make or receive calls during this time. It will also save time if you are able to make a list of all wireless products in the home. WiFi routers – unplug from AC electric power Cell phones, IPads, PDA's IPods – place in flight, or airplane mode Cordless phones – unplug base from AC electric power Printers – unplug from AC electric power Computers – turned off, not just in “sleep” mode Game consoles – unplug from AC power Baby monitors - unplug from AC power Any other wireless devices you may have should also be unplugged or shut down. If a visitor is present please ensure that any wireless devices on their person are also in flight or airplane mode. Devices in sleep mode will still transmit.
OUTLETS: Electrical outlets will be checked for a ground, as this often contributes to elevated electric field readings. We understand that sometimes checking every outlet can be challenging due to placement of furniture. It is not absolutely necessary to test every one, however, the more the better.
We are able to detect in the wall electrical wiring anomalies that pertain exclusively to elevated EMF levels. While some of our testing may indicate a wiring fault or other concern, we do not perform the level of electrical wiring safety testing or take actions that are best left to licensed electricians.
ELECTRIC PANEL AND SUB-PANELS: Panels typically show high measurements at short range. High emitting devices in other rooms can cause elevated magnetic fields at panel locations. We do not open up the panel box, expose wiring or do any action best suited for an electrician. We may need to flip a circuit or two to evaluate levels in various rooms.
SMALL APPLIANCES: We will be testing all commonly used small appliances. Make note of those you use most frequently. Examples include blenders, hair dryers, electric toothbrushes & shavers, vacuums - basically anything with a motor (makes noise when turned on). MAJOR APPLIANCES: We’ll get the most accurate readings if these can be turned on briefly. You may want to plan on doing a load of laundry during survey time.
AIR CONDITIONING/HEATING SYSTEMS: We’ll get the most accurate readings if these can be turned on briefly.
